Consul-General He Lanjing Paid a Courtesy Call on the Lord Mayor of Adelaide Sandy Verschoor

On January 24th, Consul-General He Lanjing paid a courtesy call on Ms. Sandy Verschoor, the Right Hon. the Lord Mayor of Adelaide. Vice Consul-General Pi Lijun and Adelaide City Councillor Simon Hou attended the meeting.

Mayor Verschoor welcomed Consul-General He to Adelaide, saying that the City Council attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and has carried out fruitful exchanges and cooperation with cities of China such as Qingdao, Dalian and Chengdu. The trade, investment and personnel exchanges between South Australia and China are increasingly close.

Adelaide city is home to the three most important universities of South Australia in which 40% of the international students come from China. These Chinese students are the friendship ambassador of the two countries and inject new vitality into the city. The City Council will continue to work to create a safe and sound environment for their lives and studies.

Consul-General He appreciated the City Council's efforts on developing relations with China, and said that the Consulate-General is willing to facilitate the cooperation between Adelaide and Chinese cities in areas of economy and trade, culture, education and tourism. She hopes to maintain close communication with the Council, provide better consular services to Chinese tourists and students in Adelaide, and jointly foster a more safe and friendly travelling and studying environment.
